Joanne Nelson shares her story with the hope that others will discover the support, encouragement and educational opportunities that she and hundreds of other parents and daycare providers have found at Pathways, MI.
During the past two years Joanne has participated in the C.O.P. (Circle of Parents) group and is currently attending Love & Logic classes.
Circle of Parents is a source of strength and support for parents, by parents. This program is a time-tested child abuse prevention approach that promotes positive parenting by helping parents become more competent and confident in parenting roles.
Love & Logic focuses on parents of children ages 0-6, but the principals can be applied to any age. LOVE helps children grow through mistakes. LOGIC calls for children to live with the consequences of their choices.
Joanne has found support, advocacy and networking opportunities while attending these programs. She has also found that sharing common goals and challenges has helped in her personal life as well as in the daycare services she provides. From sharing the “joys” of parenting a pre-teen son to networking with other daycare providers, Joanne says that she looks forward to each meeting and is thankful to Pathways, and specifically her instructor Gail for all the care and support she has received.
