VOLUNTEERS WELCOME!

Pathways, MI has many opportunities for individuals who would like to volunteer their time and skills to an agency program. 

Areas with opportunities to participate and become actively involved:

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate)  Ottawa County
A CASA volunteer will be trained to gather information, write reports, and make recommendations to the court in the best interest of a child.  Ottawa County alone has over 2,000 cases of reported child abuse and neglect every year.

SCAN (Stop Child Abuse and Neglect) Ottawa County
Stop Child Abuse and Neglect.  A SCAN volunteer will give presentations called People, Problems, and Protection (PPP’s) in Ottawa County third grade classrooms about safe and unsafe touches.

PARENT AIDE  -  Muskegon County
Parent Aides offer support and guidance to parents.  By acting as mentors and role models Parent Aides will help parents understand the developmental needs of their children while learning how to manage their own home environment more effectively.  Parent Aides also teach parents how to utilize community resources.

Total Trek Quest  -   Ottawa County
Total Trek Quest needs volunteer to be group mentors to 4th and 5th grade boys for an after school running team at local schools.  Group mentors meet twice a week with students throughout the 10 week program.  Program begins in March each year.  Free training provided.  Call for participating schools and schedule.

Project Charlie  -  Ottawa County
Facilitators:  Lead 9 one-hour Project Charlie substance abuse prevention lessons for fifth grade students (Feb. – April).  Four-hour training session is provided along with lesson plans, video tapes, and other materials.  Schedule is flexible but during school hours.

Prevention Department
Assist with planning, scheduling, filing and research for abuse prevention programs.  Schedule is flexible.
